The One Who Makes the Impossible, Possible

Middle East

A Common Life brings Common Light

Abisha* and Khepri* are Christian Middle Eastern parents. They are praying for God’s Word to be translated into their regional sign language. Through their faith, they hold onto the One who moves mountains – the One who makes the impossible, possible.

Abisha and Khepri live in an area of the world where being rooted as Christian believers comes with many challenges. Their faith in God is what keeps them strong!

The couple are hearing parents to a Deaf son. They are motivated by a vision to see their son and other Deaf from the community experience the same kind of hope in Christ that they have. Hope that is found in Scripture, in a language that is clear and understandable.

Deaf lives are changed when Scripture is made available in the regional sign language, allowing a Christ-centered community to share a common life that brings a common light. As the community matures, it becomes a place of prayer and servanthood. Abisha and Khepri’s have a desire for the Deaf community to experience this kind of light. To no longer passively observe or adopt religious traditions, but take an active role in worship by understanding Scripture through a language that impacts the heart.

As the couple dialogue with Deaf Bible Society, they pray together for the vision of God’s Word to become available. With a foundation rooted in hope, they are confident that it is only a matter of time before Scripture becomes available to the Deaf community in their region.

“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20

When a community experiences God’s love and forgiveness through scripture engagement in their own language, the One who moves mountains is victorious!
